SB 137 is AN ACT relative to licensure by endorsement granted by the board of nursing.


This bill requires the board of nursing to grant licenses to applicants for license by endorsement for persons holding a comparable license issued by Vermont, Massachusetts, New York, or Connecticut. Vermont the only one of these states, other than New Hampshire, that is currently part of the nursing Interstate Licensure Compact (NLC).


This bill was not presented at NHNA’s Legislative Town Hall Forum, but is of interest with respect to workforce issues.  Below is  a link to the language of this bill.

A hearing on this bill was held on February 1 at 9:35 am, in Room 101 LOB.  On 2/2/17 the Senate Committee on Executive Departments & Administration indicated this bill ought to pass with amendment. On 3/9/17 the bill PASSED in the Senate and moved to the House. On 3/16/17 assigned to House Committee on Executive Departments and Administration. Barbarajo Bockenhauer spoke on behalf of NHNA regarding this bill at the hearing before the House Committee on Executive Departments and Administration on 3/28/17. A sub-committee hearing on this bill was held on 5/3/17. On 5/24/17 the Committee on Executive Departments & Administration indicated this bill ought to pass. On 6/1/17 this bill PASSED in the House and moved to the Senate for concurrence and on 6/8/17 the Senate concurred with the House amendments. On 6/22/17 this bill was ordered enrolled.
