SBIRT Training via Kognito Simulation
S•BI•RT (Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment) is an evidence-based approach to identify, reduce, and prevent risky, excessive, unhealthy and harmful use of alcohol, tobacco or other substances. SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) and the current Surgeon General’s Report: Facing Addiction in America call it out as the most effective public health intervention to help adolescent dealing with the impact of misuse of alcohol and other substances. The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation through a grant with Conrad N. Hilton Foundation is excited to make available a FREE Kognito simulation, which offers health and behavioral health care providers working in any setting the opportunity to refresh—or to begin to practice and develop—their screening, brief intervention and motivational interviewing skills. Please see the attached brochure for more information about the program. For more details about the science behind the development of the tool, visit Kognito’s website at https://kognito.com. Free training and technical assistance is available from the NH Center for Excellence to help your organization adopt S•BI•RT as standard of care in your practice. For more information about the S•BI•RT initiative in NH and additional resources, visit SBIRTNH.org.
